If this jacket is made in royal blue it is a custom item. Once custom items have been paid for and are on order the measurements and details cannot be changed, the item cannot be canceled, and the item cannot be returned unless there is a defect.
This means that if the garment does not fit you we would not be able to accept it as a return or exchange, for this reason we do not recommend getting a customization for a garment unless you have already tried on the standard size or version.

Customer Reviews
I bought the woolen short jacket in dark green 2.5 months ago to wear with a kilt I'd ordered a couple of weeks earlier. Shipping on the jacket was quick, and I initially thought it was a great jacket. It fits well, looks good, and is warm. It's a little itchy, but that was to be expected as it's un-lined. My kilt took 3 months to get to me, and I only wore the jacket a handful of times before my kilt arrived to see how well it fit and did in the cold. After my kilt arrived a week ago, I started wearing the jacket every morning when it was chilly out. After just a few days, the stitching on the button holes was shredded, 2 buttons were really loose, and 1 button fell off completely. I never found the one that fell off because it was dark out and it fell off to the side of the road. Luckily, I'd bought extra buttons in case something like that happened. I've also noticed some of the other stitching in random places is coming loose. I'm not abusing this jacket, but it already looks like I've owned it for years and have treated it harshly. I'm rather disappointed considering how much I paid for this jacket. I can't return it, especially since I've made some modifications to it so it looks and works better with a kilt. I added a banded collar and epaulettes, then angled the front bottom to accommodate a sporran. The only option I had was to replace the missing button, secure the remaining buttons better, tear out the remaining stitching around the button holes, iron some interfacing behind the holes to seal them shut, put buttons in place over the holes, then get clip on chains to hold the jacket closed when it's cold outside. It actually looks better that way with a kilt, anyways. That's a lot of extra work, time, and money. I expected much better quality for the amount I paid. Several people in groups I'm in asked me to let them know what I thought of this jacket for use with a kilt. Sadly, I'd have to tell them not to get it unless they know how to fix the issues that will arise after just a couple of months of very light use.
It is a well made, though simple jacket. This fits with its purpose as a jacket for poor(er) working class men from long-long ago.
I feel it is worth the price. It is a bit expensive, but that is what you can expect when buying something that is made of wool instead of plastic, has metal buttons instead of plastic and is made in a Western country instead of in some far-Eastern slave emporium.
Having said that, the sizing is off for me. I measure 38" in the chest, so that is the size I bought (small).
It fits perfectly in the chest and stomach, but it is a little tight on the shoulders and most importantly; the sleeves are about an inch too short (most of my wrist is exposed).
It would have been nice if the sleeve length was also listed on the website. I would have ordered a size medium instead.
I'm not going to return it since I live across the pond (and I can't be bothered with the shipping charges/import duties involved with an exchange). Maybe I'll order another one in a larger size next year.
One neat thing I must mention is that Townsends included a paper catalogue in the package. Not many shops have those anymore. Very cool!
My new jacket, in Royal Blue, just arrived today and is amazing! The color looks great with my new sailor's costume that I am putting together. This is now my third short jacket from Townsends, and all of them have been great quality. I have ordered two with extended length to the sleeves and torso, and the sewing team and customer service went above and beyond to make sure that it was what I needed and that I got it in time! Thanks so much to everyone at Townsends for another great jacket!
I ordered one of these jackets in red to make a British infantry short jacket, and customer service was extremely helpful! Other than hats, this is my first clothing item to order from Townsends, and customer service went the extra mile to help me get it to fit me, as I am fairly tall. Thanks Townsends for an excellent product!
I ALWAYS order extra large shirts, jackets and coats but I followed the measuring instructions and it indicated I needed a large (45" chest) so I ordered it fully intending to send it back as I ASSUMED it would be to small.
Perfect fit! The wife even said it looked sharp on me (after being married this long that doesn't happen often!).
My advice, follow the measuring instructions and order this very well fitting jacket.
