Pierced Tin Ship's Lantern
Similar to round lanterns but with a sliding glass pane in front to serve as a window. With brackets on back for hanging on a wall or tent pole. 14 1/2" tall. Made of bright tinplate which reflects a lot of light. We recommend a maximum candle height of about 6". Our Beeswax Candles are sold separately as item numbers BC-12 (each) or BC-19 (Dozen Candle Bundle).

The ship's lantern is a real beauty. One alone will give you just enough focus light for reading charts and plotting the next day's voyage. I may be purchasing several more to illuminate the captain's quarters for my dinner parties with the officers.
A work to the wise, the lantern is best used with the glass cover off. With the cover on, the heat builds up and melts the candle's edge, dripping the wax and shortening it's life. Not good when port is still three weeks away. Removing the cover lets in a draft, and cools the candle down. Put the cover on only when going above decks to keep out the wind, or when visiting the powder magazine.
Need to replenish my candles for my pierced tin ships lantern. Love the glow and fragrance of honey with the burn.

This lamp is very beautifully pierced and assembled—it gets quite hot with a candle burning inside!
Townsends was able to expedite this to me, thankfully, just in time for our tenth wedding anniversary, the “tin” anniversary!
