One Gallon Brass Trade Kettle
Trade Kettles were in use from the mid 1600’s all the way to the American Civil War. They were commonly traded with Indians, thus their name. Riveted dog-eared tabs secure the iron bail. This Kettle is about 9” in diameter, 4-1/2" tall, and holds about a gallon. Made of solid brass with folded and riveted brass ears and the interior is tin lined for food safety. The sides of the kettle are angled and the bottom is slightly rounded. Imported.
