Drawstring Skirt - Linen

In Ireland ladies portraying the 1840's wore linen so I wanted some linen. I was pleased to find this Townsend skirt which I have in dark blue. It goes well with Townsend's Jacobean print blue "short gown." I am a size 12 and this is heavy linen so the draw string led to drooping. Fortunately I sew and I added a hidden band to hold the skirt so I don't lose it while walking in camp (or coming out the a tavern!) I left the drawstring for looks. A skirt that should last a long time.

Everything I've ordered from Townsends has been top-notch quality. This linen is a heavier weight, and the drawstring makes it easy to adjust. Works well as a petticoat for multiple eras. Customer service is always excellent; a rep reached out asking if I needed the petticoat by a certain date, and I received it even earlier (around two weeks).

My brown skirt is skillfully done. From outside you can hardly tell it was machine stitched and it's very meticulous. The linen is of a heavy kind and at first it seemed bulky but after a little bit of wearing it started to feel great. Modern clothes are made of much lighter linen but I love the weight of my new skirt. Thank you Ms. Debbie for a job well done.

It took 12 days from placing my order to the delivery which was less than they estimate it takes (2-4 weeks). After I placed my order I got an e-mail telling me of the estimate and asking if I needed it by a particular date which they would do their best to accommodate. I didn't, and it still arrived fast, but I thought that was very considerate.
