Some trouble.

I really love the head on this jaw and it’s very solidly attached to the handle but I’m afraid to say the handle wood could have been in better condition. There were several spots on mine where the grain was splitting off where I could even slip my fingernail under it. I had to remove wood from an already thin handle to fix this problem. Other than that, I love this axe and it will still serve me well in the future. I’m sure I just got unlucky with mine.

Very capable

Picked this up at the Kalamazoo show about a week ago and got to meet Mr. Townsend himself. Since then I’ve tested this little axe with a variety of tasks…driving nails to hang pictures, cutting off small slivers from logs to make a fire, quartering a chicken, slicing jalapeños, and many more. It rarely leaves my side and isn’t a burden to carry. I did have to sharpen it after purchase, however, the edge has held up well with little honing. After staining the handle, this is a lightweight, beautiful, and quite functional piece of equipment for experimental archeology and all around fun.

A great tomahawk

Townsend's was the only shop to have Simeon England's head in stock. It is well fitted with an unfinished hickory haft, and ready for your finish.
Mine came out very well with iron nitrate stain and blush, twice. 3 well soaked coats of pure ring oil and several applications of Oxpho Blue on the head. I'm a happy camper. This was supposed to be 5 star review.
