Posted on February 22 2016

This installment complements the previous video “Privations of an 18th Century Soldier.” It examines a number of historical references and considers how soldiers of the time prepared their meat rations when supplies and equipment were scarce or unavailable. It also looks at the important role salt played in not only the preservation of meat but also in the strategies of war.
