Printed Cotton Shortgown

$115.00

Loose fitting sleeved jacket worn by common women of the 18th and early 19th centuries. The top of the bodice is made with a double layer of fabric for extra body, printed on the outside and a cotton muslin lining. Drawstring waist. Brass pin closures come standard, but this garment can be made with cotton ties upon request (a $20 customization fee applies and it makes the item non returnable).

We offer a selection of hand-block-printed cotton fabrics in addition to our standard printed cotton fabrics. Block-printed cotton was popular in the 18th century but it's difficult to find today. You can view the selection at our fabric swatch page. Please enter your choice in the field above (stripes will be horizontal rather than vertical).

This item can also be made with a solid cotton fabric, you can view the selection here. Please enter "solid (color choice)" in the field above.

See our measurement guide for help with obtaining proper measurements.

This item usually made to order, please allow 2-4 weeks for garment to be made.

My wife loves it

Bought this for my wife as a birthday present after I finally got her interested in living history interpretation. It arrived Saturday and she loves it. Order arrived way faster than we expected even though this was being made to her measurements. Very pleased.

My beautiful shortgown

I asked for and received this for Christmas and have enjoyed wearing it. Mine is a Jacobean blue print on white and it is my favorite. I have Townsend's dark blue line skirt to go with it and these are a good pair.
