Printed Cotton Shortgown
Loose fitting sleeved jacket worn by common women of the 18th and early 19th centuries. The top of the bodice is made with a double layer of fabric for extra body, printed on the outside and a cotton muslin lining. Drawstring waist. Brass pin closures come standard, but this garment can be made with cotton ties upon request (a $20 customization fee applies and it makes the item non returnable).
We offer a selection of hand-block-printed cotton fabrics in addition to our standard printed cotton fabrics. Block-printed cotton was popular in the 18th century but it's difficult to find today.
