Folding Chair for Camp

$468.00

It is time to throw away those old, unauthentic, butt cheek pinching, canvas folding stools and get something real to sit on. These chairs are perfect for the discriminating campsite. They are hand-made here in Indiana of local hardwood. Unfolded you get a very sturdy 32" tall chair with a 16" by 16" seat that is about 17" off the floor. Folded up these chairs are just 5-1/2" thick and 32" tall and 16" wide. They are styled after 18th century folding chairs in the book "British Campaign Furniture". Very sturdy 20 Lbs each.

Study, heavy and beats a camp stool!

I purchased one and then another! Sturdy, heavy and well made! It folds nicely and comes with a carrying bag. Due to the weight these are a struggle to get to the campsite, but well worth it. The chair beats a camp stool and provides support for the back. Thanks Townsends for providing a camp seating alternative.

5 stars for period accuracy minus two stars for discomfort.

If you want a chair for events that ban the craft fair chairs that are so prevalent then this one has impeccable provenance. It is not a comfy chair for extended use around the campfire, however, especially if you have back problems. The seat can be softened with a sheepskin but the 90 degree angle of the backrest is as unforgiving as the straight-backed Generals or Admirals for whom these chairs were designed. I prop mine up with a board under the front legs to soften the angle a bit. Built very sturdy and heavy to survive transport around the world and back.
