Response to poorly fitted handle
Rating
I know this hawk well, and other similar models. As a blacksmith that makes tomahawks, I can tell you that each and every hand forged hawk is going to be unique and slightly different from every other one, though they may look exactly alike.

The problem with the hawk in the review, or any other one with this problem, isn't in the forging, but the fitting of the handle. These handles, and their replacements are not ALWAYS going to fit perfectly without a bit of fiddling or by inserting a wedge (thought they should, most of the time), because these are not made the same as assembly line products out of Detroit or some such. The handle must be carved to fit the head, and should be slightly conicular (larger at the head end so the hawk doesn't fly off if it becomes loose).

It isn't hard to carve a new handle, they did it in period, and we reenactors do it still. Try it, it will feel more rewarding when you finish... and enjoy your bit of history.

Fun!

I have this exact tomahawk. Bought it years ago when I lived in Florida and likely had watched some movie that got me interested with the idea. I can tell you it is NOT hard to learn how to throw a tomahawk. Once you get the groove down on how to throw it, you'll master it soon. Lotta fun. Review by Scott Sinclair (Posted on 7/14/2017)
Poor job fitting blade to handle
Rating
The blade fell right off the handle within 2 minutes of picking it up. I contacted the company, but their suggestion did not work. The colonial group I belong to said it was constructed poorly and needed someone who worked with metals to fix it. Review by Customer (Posted on 6/15/2017)
Great camp hawk
Rating
This hawk makes a great little camp and throwing hawk. I've used this hawk for splitting camp fire wood. I've even chopped down unwanted over grow shrubbery. For a forged hawk it's worth the price. Review by rlhayes (Posted on 5/11/2017)
