Similar to the British issue belt axe used in the Revolutionary War. Good for throwing and, with the reinforced hammer back, they make great camp tools for chopping or pounding. Full sized head with a hardwood handle. Weighs in at 26 oz.

Replacement handles and leather sheath for this axe are sold separately.

Great for the money!

This is a nice little ax. Everything seems solid. It is NOT sharp! So be prepared to spend some time with it to get a good working edge. But for the money I don't think you can do much better. Review by Tate (Posted on 7/4/2018)

I purchased 4 of these for entertainment for the boys on our family 1776 weekend. Tomahawk throwing . I watched the Townsend video the weekend began I grabbed 4 tomahawks first try was a stick and the 2nd throw stick the guys was so excited they jumped right in, even the girls had to try. Everyone was pretty successful and had a lot of fun . The leather sheaths are perfect . I'm very happy. Review by Silver fox (Posted on 6/7/2018)
Excellent buy

After putting an edge on it, my son and I tried it out with chopping, and shaving wood. Edge retention was better than I thought it would be.
Handle is also very well fitted to handle.
We will be buying more Hawks from Townsend's in the future.

Durable and well made.

Bought this for entertainment and civil war reenacting. Went camping with six
guys and we threw it at trees about 1000 times. Held up nicely and easy to throw.

Good at home and in camp

This is a great little axe. I got the carrier too which works well, but I'm getting too old to lug that much stuff around the woods and this now stays home where I use it to make medium size wood into smaller bits or for many uses around camp. It stays sharp if used properly and is easy to sharpen if you don't. I added a wrist lanyard for safety since the handle tapers toward the hand. I think all axes aught to have one since many people don't use them every day but think they know all about them. Review by Peter (Posted on 1/13/2018)
Great tomahawk!

Great tomahawk! Love the balance and everything. A bastard file sharpened it to a shaving edge. Get a file when you buy this, because it does not come sharpened. Makes a great camp tool for chopping, hammering, and throwing for fun. The design of the head is very versatile and I see why it is designed the way it is now. In a pinch, you could use it as a draw knife, for scraping skins, and a whole lot else. Love it... My only complaint is that my handle it pretty crooked. Review by bmiller3230 (Posted on 9/19/2017)

Originally bought this to pound pegs and split firewood but as a champion thrower I soon began to use this at all my competitions. Throws as well as my $90 competition model. Review by Mike Procter (Posted on 8/7/2017)

Bought this small axe some time ago. Now it's integral part of my kit and goes everywhere I go and on every outing. I look forward to purchasing more items in the future. Thank you gentlemen for an awsome tool. Review by Thomas Barron (Posted on 7/19/2017)
Works well

It looks great and handles well at home, in the woods, and at historical events. The iron is softer than I expected it to be. I spend a lot of time sharpening out dents. Overall though, I'm pleased with it. Review by Morgan G (Posted on 6/25/2017)
